Saving 99.97% at CVS!

I went back to CVS today because I wanted to get the good price on Kleenex and to get some cheap shampoo!  Because my ECBs were in increments of $2, my strategy was to try to have my total after coupons (but before using ECBs) to be an even amount, like $4, $6, etc.

Without the oral rinse, my total would've been $3.54 before using ECBs ($4.40 for Kleenex  + $1.64 for shampoo - $.50 Kleenex coupon and - $2/2 shampoo coupon).  To get my total (before using ECBs) over the $4, I elected to buy the oral rinse.  I only needed $.46 more, but because the net of the oral rinse would end up being $.99 AND it generated a $2 ECB, I chose that to get my total over $4.

Bought:
(5) boxes of Kleenex at $.88 each = $4.40
(2) VO5 Shampoos at $.82 each = $1.64
Crest ProHealth Oral Rinse 250 mL = $2.99

Subtotal = $9.03

Coupons used:
-.50/3 Kleenex (3) boxes 50 ct + or bundle pk, SS 7/17
-$2/2 Shampoo, Conditioner, or Stylant, prints at CVS Coupon Center
-$2 ECB from Bengay Vanishing Scent Gel (see July 27 entry)
-$2 ECB from U by Kotex liners (see July 27 entry)
-$2 ECB from Crest ProHealth Oral Rinse (see July 27 entry)

Total = $.53 + tax

ECBs generated:
$2 ECB from the Crest ProHealth Oral Rinse

Total cost of each item after coupons and corresponding ECBs:
(5) boxes of Kleenex = $.78 each
(2) VO5 Shampoos = $.36 profit
Crest ProHealth Oral Rinse 250 mL = $.99

Out of pocket = $.53 + tax
Retail value = $15.92
Saved 99.97%

Year to Date Savings = $717.16

Your Sister Saving at the CVS!

Have you seen the CVS commercial where a woman says her local CVS is really "Sara's CVS" and they show the new sign being hoisted up on the side of the building?  Well, that's how I feel!  I feel like there are quite a few CVS stores out there that are really "Janet's CVS"!

I began this week with $7 ECBs.  ($3 ECB from Oral-B toothbrush, couple of weeks ago, $3 ECB from the magic red coupon machine for my Spring spending, and $1 ECB for using my reusable shopping bag and getting my green bag tag scanned four times!)  How I decide what to buy usually means looking at the ad and seeing what's a really good deal this week.  It was a slow week, but here's what I got:

First Trip
Balance Bar $1.69
Garnier Nutrisse Haricolor $7

Subtotal = $ 8.69

Coupons used:
-$2 off Garnier Nutrisse Shade or Multi-Lights kit, RP 5/01
-$3 ECB from Oral-B toothbrush, couple of weeks ago
-$3 ECB from the magic red coupon machine for my Spring spending

Total = $.69 + tax

ECBs generated:  $1.69 from the Balance Bar

Second Trip
Complete Multi-Purpose Solution, 12 oz. $7.99

Subtotal = $7.99

-$1 ECB for using my reusable shopping bag and getting my green bag tag scanned four times!
-$1.69 from the Balance Bar (First Trip)

ECBs generated: $7.99 from the Complete Multi-Purpose Solution

Began the week with $7 ECBs. ($3 ECB from Oral-B toothbrush, couple of weeks ago, $3 ECB from the magic red coupon machine for my Spring spending, and $1 ECB for using my reusable shopping bag and getting my green bag tag scanned four times!)
Total out of pocket = $5.99 + tax
Ended the week with $7.99 ECB Complete Multi-Purpose Solution

Final cost per item after coupons and corresponding ECBs:
Balance Bar = FREE
Garnier Nutrisse Haricolor = $5
Complete Multi-Purpose Solution, 12 oz. = FREE

This Week's Rite Aid Trip

I began the week with  $5 +UP (from Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor) and $2 +UP (from Crest toothpaste) from last week AND a coupon for $3 off $15 purchase!  My plan was to scour Rite Aid's ad focusing on what might be a money maker, what was free or what was pretty cheap.  So here's what I got:

Crest Pro-Health Enamel Shield Toothpaste 4.2 oz $2.69
Accu-Check Aviva Glucose Meter $9.99
Benefiber Sticks 24 ct. $9.99

Subtotal = $22.67 (Over the $15 mark...thank you glucose meter!  See note below.)

Coupons used
-$3 off $15 or more purchase
-$10 off Accu-Check Aviva meter, Rite Aid video values store coupon
-$1 off Benefiber product, Rite Aid video values store coupon
-$3 off Benefiber stick pack printable
-$5 +UP (from Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor, last week)

Total = $.67 + tax

+UP rewards generated:
None of the products I purchased generated a +UP reward.

Single Check Rebate (entered information from receipt onto Rite Aid's website):
Rebate #6 - Crest Pro-Health Enamel Shield Toothpaste, 4.2 oz qualifies for $2.69 rebate!
Rebate #20 - Purchase Benefiber 62 Dose, Chewable Tablets 100 ct., Packets 28 ct., or Sticks 24 ct. qualifies for $3 rebate!

Began the week with $7 +UP
Out of pocket = $.67 + tax
Ended the week with $2 +UP (from Crest toothpaste, last week) and $5.69 Single Check Rebate!

Final cost per item after coupons and corresponding +UP and Single Check Rebates:
Crest Pro-Health Enamel Shield Toothpaste 4.2 oz = FREE
Accu-Check Aviva Glucose Meter = $.01 profit
Benefiber Sticks 24 ct. = $.01 profit ($9.99 - $1 off Rite Aid video values store coupon - $3 off Benefiber stick pack printable, - $3 single check rebate - $3 off $15 or more purchase coupon)

Note: If I had not purchased the glucose meter, my subtotal would have been $12.68 and I wouldn't have been able to use the $3 off $15 coupon.  Since I had a $10 Rite Aid video values store coupon to pay for the glucose meter, I knew it was going to be free in the end.  I just needed it as a "filler" to get my total over $15!

And that's why I buy products I don't need or use!  Now...where to donate the glucose meter...

I Love Vocalpoint - and Here's Why!

I've been a member of Vocalpoint for over a year now.  Vocalpoint is a division of Proctor and Gamble and they like to get consumers' opinions about new products.  On their web site (www.Vocalpoint.com), there are surveys you can take, forums and message boards.

Vocalpoint will send you new products and ask that you complete an online survey about the product once you've used it.  I feel that's a reasonable 'thank you'!  They are very interested in your feedback!
Last week, I received Downy UnStopables In-Wash Scent Booster from them to try out.  Its supposed to be added directly into the washer to give a fresh scent boost.  Some of the other full sized products I've received are: a box of one of their new Chex cereals and box of new Cheerios...just to name a few!  You never know when something will show up!  I've even received trial sizes of Pantene shampoo and conditioner.

To increase your chances of getting new products, complete a few surveys.  Most are very short, I even completed one recently about backyard birding!  The more surveys you complete, the better the chance you'll be rewarded for your efforts!

I realize this sounds like a paid endorsement for Vocalpoint, but its not.  I just know I enjoy it and when they do mail some product to you, there are high value coupons in the package as well as coupons for you to share with others!  I write this not in an effort to advertise for Vocalpoint, but to inform you!

I hope you enjoy it!
