How To "Roll" Drugstore Rewards!

CVS practically begs me to take merchandise out of their store each week!  I love their Extra Care Bucks rewards program plus their stores are super clean and bright!

I began this week with $4, $2.49, $2 and $2 in ECBs.  I am going to color code the ECBs from each transaction so you can easily see how to "roll" your ECBs to keep your out of pocket to a minimum.  Please keep in mind, I have 5 CVS stores within a 5 mile radius of my house and I only do 1 to 2 transactions per trip.  So here's what they begged me to take home this week:

Publix: $10 Off $50 Gas Card!

Beginning June 30 - July 6, Publix is running their gas card deal!  Purchase $25 in groceries (before coupons) and get $10 off any $50 gas card.  You don't automatically get the $10 off the gas card, you actually need to look in the weekly sales flyer for the $10 off coupon and hand that over to the cashier.

It is important to pay attention to the order you hand over your coupons to the cashier.  If your subtotal was over $25 in groceries and you hand over the coupon for the groceries...then you try and hand over the coupon for the $10 off $50 gas card...well guess what?  Your subtotal is now lower than the $25 limit!  Oops!

This is the order for handing over your coupons.  After your subtotal is $25 or greater, hand both the $50 gas card along with the $10 off coupon to the cashier and finally hand over the coupons for the groceries!  I like to split my transactions into increments of $25 to get numerous gas cards!

Coupon For A Free Bottle Of Pantene!

To get the coupon, just 'like' Pantene on Facebook!  Then fill in all your contact information and in 4 to 6 weeks you'll receive your coupon in the mail.  The coupon is good for a free 12.6 oz bottle!

Please be patient with Pantene's Facebook page, due to the heavy volume it is quite slow.  Pantene is giving away 454,000 coupons for a free bottle so there's a good chance you'll get yours!

Why Would You Buy Items You Don't Use?

When I tell people I coupon, one of the first couponing falsehoods they ask is, "Don't you have to buy items you don't use?"  The answer is no.  The only exception is if I can get the item for free or if the item makes me money.  And I can always donate the item to someone who can use it.

Here's a small example of an item making me money. I went to Walmart and purchased two items:

Hodgson Mill Milled Flax Seed $2.13
Dial Body Wash (travel size) $.97

I had two coupons:
-$.35 off Hodgson Mill product - Received in the mail from the manufacturer.
-$2 off Dial lotion or body wash, RP 6/12 (exp 06/30)  Notice the coupon didn't specify a size.

Since the Dial Body Wash was only $.97 and the coupon was for $2.00 off, there's now $1.03 overage that can be applied to the Milled Flax Seed.  Walmart allows overages from coupons that exceed the value of the product.  Not many stores allow overages, they'll just change the amount on the face of the coupon down to match the price of the product.

Check out my receipt.  I know its a bit out of focus but here's what it says:

Flaxseed  $2.13
Bodywash  $.97
Coupon  -$2.00
Coupon  -$.35
Subtotal  $.75
Tax 7%  $.07
Tax 3%  $.06
Total  $.88

Without purchasing the Dial Body Wash, I would have paid $1.83 ($2.13 minus $.35 coupon plus $.05 tax) for the Milled Flax Seed alone!

So that's why I buy products I don't use or need!

Couponing at Walmart

"Low Prices Everyday" can also mean "never a stock-up price".  While it is true that Walmart does generally have low prices on most items, it's also true that they don't run sales or promo's.  So, what is a couponer to do?  LOTS!  Here is what I did this morning at Walmart in Meridian, Idaho:

• 1 bottle Immitation Cherry Extract (he likes the frosting to be cherry flavored too.  I'm just thrilled he likes my cakes the best!), everyday price $2.98
• no coupons for this either.  :-)

Total after 6% Idaho Sales Tax: $24.34

I'm not going to make it onto TLC's Extreme Couponing with a trip like this, but this is REALISTIC couponing. 

Walmart seems to vary by area.  In Idaho they take Albertson's doublers.  I've heard that there are some in Utah and Texas who double all coupons on Tuesdays.  Wherever you live, find out what your Walmart's coupon policy is and make it work for you.

That leaves us only one option, watch for it on sale.  This week at CVS Jack Links Jerky, Nuggets and Tender Cuts are a BOGO!  So go stock up!  Remember, at drug stores a BOGO means one item rings up at full price the second one rings up free, so you'll want to buy in multiples of two to maximize your savings!

We LOVE Red Baron in our house, and I've never seen a coupon that applies to their regular pizza's before (I've only seen one's for the personal pizza's, or pizza by the slice, etc.).  So, I'm ALL OVER this coupon! 

Simply go to their Facebook page HERE, scroll down and click on the coupon link, then enter your email address to print the coupon. Don't forget to hit 'back' on your bowser (three clicks on my computer) to print twice!

These go on 'Rollback' at my Walmart all the time for anywhere between $2.50 - $3.33.  The coupon doesn't expire until the end of July, so I'm going to hold onto it for a rollback at Walmart or doublers at Albertsons.

My FIRST RiteAid trip!! Yay!

OK, so I know y'all are all big time into this but... the Axe deal that Janet posted was one I just COULDN'T pass up... especially since Jared just told me this week that he needed more Axe body spray :)  So... I thought I'd start small and try it out. I'm also nervous about the B1G1 Q's so... I took the B1G1 Q for Axe and for Degree, along with the Softscrub Q's that Tracy posted (they only had the $.75/1 left by the time I printed them) and headed to RiteAid. I did the Axe and Degree purchases in one transaction and got 2 $3+UP. I then bought the Softscrub, used my two $.75cent Q's and one $3+UP reward.  I came out of the store spending $10 for 6 items, plus I still have a $3+UP AND there was a survey on my receipt that gives me $5 off my next $15 purchase if I go online to fill it out!!!!  SO...I spent just over a dollar for each item and still get another $5 when I do my online survey!  The best part was.... I NEVER go into RiteAid, like NEVER and the cashier was so super nice that I'm now REALLY excited about going back!!! She even told me about the videos online that can earn you extra $$, etc. She was super helpful!  THANKS J&T, & RiteAid   =)

My husband REALLY does love me!  Know how I know?  Because part of our date night tonight was spent in Bath & Body Works at their semi-annual sale!  = )

Just wanted to share with you some decent deals.  Above is a picture of two of Bath & Body Work's anti-bacterial gentle foaming hand soap...which we LOVE!  Normally these are $5 each.  The Fresh Picked Watermelon was $2.50 (on the left) and the Island Nectar was $1.25!!! 

I also found some Sea Island Cotton Body Butter (normally $15) reduced to $3.75!  This stuff is great for your feet!
